Miles Davis was not only a trumpeter and a bandleader; he was also a composer. Davis pieces like "So What", "All Blues" and "Milestones" have been covered—in other words, re-recorded—by hundreds if not thousands of jazz musicians. For this concert, Carl Woideck and friends will instead explore some of Miles Davis' seldom-covered compositions, focusing on the years 1967 and 1968. Among the pieces will be "Fun", "Water On The Pond", and the centerpiece of the concert, the epic "Circle In The Round". This was time that Davis was experimenting with using alternative keyboards like celeste and electric piano, and for the first time, adding a guitar to his basic group.
